Gas exchange and leaf area requirement in tall ‘Prata’ banana

چکیده

The objective of this study was to evaluate the gas exchange and leaf area requirement for yield six tall ‘Prata’ banana genotypes, under semi-arid conditions. genotypes ‘Pacovan’ (AAB), ‘Pacovan Ken’ (AAAB), ‘Preciosa’ ‘Japira’ ‘PV79-34’ (AAAB) ‘Garantida’ (four tetraploid hybrids one triploid cultivar) were evaluated in two cycles, arranged a completely randomized design factorial scheme, with five replicates four usable plants per plot. For physiological characteristics, 6 x 12 2 arrangement adopted, evaluation periods reading times each period, design. Of phytotechnical characteristics measured, seven influenced by interaction between factors cultivar cycle. Internal CO2 concentration, net photosynthesis rate, instantaneous water use efficiency, carboxylation efficiency quantum recorded leaves are higher morning, favored stomatal conductance lower temperature resulting from meteorological conditions, while transpiration intrinsic increase afternoon. hybrid has production unit area, associated high transpiration, compared cultivars.

Carbon Dioxide Exchange Rate of Tall Fescue-Leaf Area vs. Leaf Weight Basis

The basis used for expression of carbon dioxide exchange rate (CER) of single leaves may alter the relative ranking of genotypes being selected for a breeding program. Therefore, field and growth chamber experiments were conducted on 16 genotypes of tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea Schreb.) to determine the relative merit of expressing CER data on a leaf area or leaf weight basis. Genotypes wer...

Coordination of leaf structure and gas exchange along a height gradient in a tall conifer.

The gravitational component of water potential and frictional resistance during transpiration lead to substantial reductions in leaf water potential (Psi(l)) near the tops of tall trees, which can influence both leaf growth and physiology. We examined the relationships between morphological features and gas exchange in foliage collected near the tops of Douglas-fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii (Mirb....

Optimal allocation of leaf epidermal area for gas exchange

A long-standing research focus in phytology has been to understand how plants allocate leaf epidermal space to stomata in order to achieve an economic balance between the plant's carbon needs and water use. Here, we present a quantitative theoretical framework to predict allometric relationships between morphological stomatal traits in relation to leaf gas exchange and the required allocation o...

Endophytic bacterial diversity in banana ‘Prata Anã’ (Musa spp.) roots

The genetic diversity of endophytic bacteria in banana 'Prata Anã' roots was characterized. Two hundred and one endophytic bacteria were isolated, 151 of which were classified as Gram-positive and 50 as Gram-negative. No hypersensitivity response was observed in any of the isolates. The rep-PCR technique generated different molecular profiles for each primer set (REP, ERIC and BOX). Fifty reada...

Reduction of molecular gas diffusion through gaskets in leaf gas exchange cuvettes by leaf-mediated pores.

There is an ongoing debate on how to correct leaf gas exchange measurements for the unavoidable diffusion leakage that occurs when measurements are done in non-ambient CO2 concentrations. In this study, we present a theory on how the CO2 diffusion gradient over the gasket is affected by leaf-mediated pores (LMP) and how LMP reduce diffusive exchange across the gaskets. Recent discussions have s...
